Certificate in Laser Refractive Surgery

The Royal College of Ophthalmologists has introduced an assessment in laser refractive surgery (commonly referred to as laser eye surgery) which leads to a certificate of competence to practise, subject to satisfactory yearly appraisals and continuing professional development.

This certificate applies only to refractive procedures performed by laser.

The next sitting of the Certificate in Laser Refractive Surgery will be held on 12-13 October 2009. Candidates are required to attend on one, but not both, dates. The closing date for receipt of applications, together with fee and complete Portfolio Assessments, is 8 weeks prior to the date of assessment, 17 August 2009. It is not possible to accept late or incomplete applications.

The fee to enter the assessment is £1100.00.
