Applications for membership


Affiliate Members

Affiliates shall be:
  • Those medical practitioners in the field of ophthalmology who hold qualifications or have the necessary experience presecribed in the Bye-laws, or
  • Those persons approved and admitted by the Council, who hold a higher qualification prescribed in the Bye-laws, and are engaged in ophthalmic research but are not medically qualified.
PLEASE NOTE: Applications for Affiliate membership require the signatures of two sponsors who are current Fellows or Members in good standing with the College. The sponsors must know the applicant and be prepared to support the application.

Trainee Affiliate Members
(This category of Membership is not open to trainees who hold MRCSEd)

Trainee Affiliates shall be:
  • Those medical practitioners who are not yet eligible to be fellows or members but who are studying for College exams, currently excluding the Fellowship Assessment and FRCOphth Part 2.

If you would like to apply for Trainee Affiliate Membership please complete the application form.

Holders of FRCOphth Part One

If you have passed Part One of the FRCOphth examination and are not already a Trainee Affiliate member, please complete the application form.

Holders of MRCSEd (Temporary Reciprocal Arrangement)

If you passed MRCSEd within the last five years and would like to apply for College membership under the temporary reciprocal arrangement, please complete the application form.

Please do not send payment with your application form. All applications have to be ratified by Council who meet quarterly (usually in March, June, September and December). You will be contacted by the Finance and Membership department following the meeting of Council and invoiced appropriately.
