Refugee Ophthalmologists

The Royal College of Ophthalmologists is able to offer some assistance to refugee ophthalmologists already in the UK. The opportunity for interaction with other ophthalmologists and access to the College's educational resources may assist refugee doctors and their potential ophthalmic careers in the UK.

Please note that during the period of assistance you will not be entitled to use the College post nominal's e.g. MRCOphth. This is only available to people who have passed the relevant College examinations.

With this in mind the College will offer the following opportunities for proven refugee ophthalmologists:

  1. Free entry to the College Annual Congress meeting for one year only - once the College is satisfied with your proof of status you will be notified by the College with regard to the registration process for Congress.
  1. Free access to the College Scientific Journal EYE and CPD system for one year; this includes access to the Membership section of the College website.
  1. Access to attend one Microsurgical Skills Course. Access to the courses is dependent on suitability to level of expertise and availability of places.
