The Royal College of Ophthalmologists Annual Congress 2014 was held at the ICC, Birmingham
We are delighted to announce our 2014 Prize Winners:
The Foulds Trophy is awarded to the best Rapid Fire presentation at Congress. The 2014 winner was Mariya Moosajee for her paper 'Translational bypass therapy using ataluren to treat nonsense-mediated choroideremia'
The John Lee Poster Prize is awarded to one of the top two posters presented at Congress in memory of the late President of the College. The 2014 winner was Matthew Edmunds for his paper 'Metabolomic Analysis of Serum in Graves' Disease and Thyroid-Associated Ophthalmology: A diagnostic tool?'
The AMO Prize is awarded to one of the top two posters and the 2014 winner was Christopher Stuchfield for his poster 'The effect of blood transfusion on fetal haemoglobin concentration in very preterm infants and its association with retinopathy of prematurity'
The Treacher Collins Prize is awarded to the best DVD in the DVD exhibition at Congress. The 2014 winner was Dan Lindfield for his DVD 'Trabeculecomy Bleb Dysaesthesia - Review of how to prevent and treat'
The British Isles Neuro-ophthalmology Club (BINOC) Ivor Levy Prize was awarded to the best neuro-ophthalmology poster by a trainee. The winner for 2014 is Peter Morgan-Warren for his poster 'Retinal Ganglion cell neuroprotection and axon regeneration after optic nerve crush induced by siRNA mediated knock-down of RTP801, a negative regulator of mTOR signalling'
The Societas Ophthalmologica Europaea (SOE) Prize is awarded to the top abstract. The 2014 winner is Edoardo Midena for his abstract 'Intravitreal Aflibercept for Diabetic Macular Edema: 1 - year Findings from the VIVID-DME and VISTA-DME Trials'
The Desmond Wright Shield 2014
A prize shield is awarded to the best commercial exhibition at Congress. The shield commemorates the work of Desmond Wright who was Exhibition Director of Optic UK from 1984 - 1993. Stands are judged in terms of equipment shown, supporting literature, and the presentation of items displayed by the staff. We are pleased to announce that the 2014 shield was awarded to Stat One
