Regional Advisors
Regional Advisers are appointed by Council to act on behalf of the College. Their responsibilities include:
- maintaining a College presence in the region
- promoting high standards of ophthalmology in the region through training, education and research
- involvement in the ARCP process (in cooperation with the Postgraduate Dean and Head of School or Programme Director)
- providing advice to trainees on the requirements for examinations run by the College
- providing information and advice to College members who are applying for CESR
One Adviser is appointed to each College region (detailed below). The term of office is three years, renewable once. Regional Advisers reaching the end of their term will be contacted by the College, with a copy sent to the Head of School/Programme Director. Applications will be sought via advertisement in College news and an email to consultants in the region.
Applicants should complete an application form which should be signed by the Chair of the Regional Specialty Training Committee or School Board and returned, along with a CV. Council will make the appointment at their next meeting. Should more than one application be received, Council will take a formal vote.
