 TRAINING THE TRAINERS COURSES

Are you interested in teaching?

 Do you wish to develop your assessor skills and knowledge of Workplace Based Assessments (WpBAs), ARCPs and examinations?

Are you responsible for Educational Supervision or Appraisals?

The Royal College of Ophthalmologists is offering a variety of Training the Trainers courses for ophthalmologists involved in postgraduate teaching in the UK.

Some courses will be of particular use to Programme Directors, College Tutors and Educational Supervisors. There is also a course open to F1 and F2 doctors. Each course covers a range of modules relating to postgraduate teaching specific to ophthalmology.

(9.15 registration for 9.30 start, 4.45 finish)

This course will help teachers and trainers develop a variety of educational skills that will engage trainees and help them learn efficiently and effectively.

Suitable for: All doctors, but priority will be given to those in training roles (Clinical and Educational Supervisors, College Tutors), then senior trainees.

Managing Doctors in Difficulty

Thursday 21 May 2015  - this course is run at Annual Congress

This course will help Trainers develop skills to manage trainees in or heading for difficulty. It will show how exsisting tools can be adapted to help, and give practice in the use of appropriate conversation techniques to achieve positive outcomes for training.


Suitable for: doctors of ST7 and above, but priority will be given to those in training roles (eg clinical and educational supervisors, College Tutors, TPDs, RAs, HoSs etc). The course is free to Congress Delegates but prior registration for the course is essential so delegates can complete the preparatory work.

Supervision of Training in Practice

Tuesday 6th October 2015

This course will help Clinical and Educational Supervisors develop skills to make their conversations with trainees more valuable for learning.

Suitable for: All doctors of ST6 and above, but priority will be given to those in training roles (Clinical and Educational Supervisors)
