Looking for a consultant?

Patients can request a referral on the NHS to see a specialist, such as an ophthalmologist, for the diagnosis and treatment of a condition. But this depends on what your registered GP feels is best for you.  Consultant ophthalmologists cannot enter into discussions about individual patient conditions without a referral from the patient’s GP.

More information can be found on the NHS Choices website about how referrals work.

Search for ophthalmologists working in NHS hospitals throughout the UK here.  Not all our members have given permission to be included in this search and the results of the listed consultants do not constitute a recommendation by the College.
