All trainees should use this format for recording their surgical experience. It is important for trainees to record all surgical experience, including procedures that they have performed supervised or assisted at.
In addition to the
main logbook, it is also useful for ARCP/RITA/CESR evaluation purposes as well
as for final CCT evaluation by the College, to sort the procedures that are
done less commonly into separate groups and put these in a separate log e.g. corneal
transplants, extra ocular muscle surgery or ptosis surgery (procedures should
still be in chronological order within the group). This requires the use of
standarised labels for procedures as suggested in the Excel template.
