Senior leadership team

Ali provides executive leadership for the College and is responsible for delivering its organisational strategy. He leads the staff team and oversees governance, legal and regulatory compliance, financial planning, risk management and organisational performance. He also maintains key relationships with external stakeholders and partners, helping ensure the College's voice and expertise are represented across the health and eye care sector.

Alexandra provides organisation-wide leadership as Deputy Chief Executive, supporting the Chief Executive in the leadership and management of the College, including delivery of strategic priorities, trustee engagement and representing the College externally. As Director of Policy and Engagement, she leads the College's brand, communications, marketing, policy and public affairs functions, overseeing strategies that support organisational objectives and strengthen the College's influence across government, the NHS and the wider eye health sector.

Beth leads the College's work on professional standards, clinical quality improvement and research. She oversees programmes including clinical guidelines, the National Ophthalmology Database, the British Ophthalmological Surveillance Unit and the dissemination of research through publications and Congress. Her work helps ensure members have access to robust evidence, guidance and tools to support high-quality patient care.

David leads the College's finance, membership and corporate support functions. He is responsible for organisational resources, operational performance and the services that support members, volunteers and staff. His work helps ensure the College remains effective, sustainable and responsive to the needs of its community.

Sophie leads the College's exams function, overseeing the delivery and development of all assessment activities. She is responsible for maintaining the quality, integrity and accessibility of exams while supporting innovation in assessment and digital delivery. Her work helps ensure the College's qualifications continue to meet the needs of the profession and patients.

Alex leads the College's education, training and events portfolio. She oversees curriculum development, training pathways, digital learning, professional development activities, courses and awards. Her role supports ophthalmologists at every stage of their career and helps ensure the College's educational offer meets the evolving needs of the profession.
