Visiting Us & Accessibility

All the information you need to visit our offices.

Stephenson Way

The RCOphth is at 18 Stephenson Way, London NW1 2HD; a cobbled road with a narrow pavement. From time to time it will be affected by HS2 works – visitors with limited mobility are advised to contact reception for the latest information.

Stephenson Way is close to the following transport links:

  • Euston Square underground station (Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines) is a two-minute walk; turn right out of the station onto North Gower Street and take the first right into Stephenson Way
  • Warren Street underground station (Northern and Victoria lines) is a five-minute walk, cross the Euston Road and head towards King’s Cross, turn left into North Gower Street and turn first right into Stephenson Way
  • Euston main line station is a three-minute walk; follow signs for Euston Road, walk west on the north side of Euston Road, turn right into North Gower Street and then left again into Stephenson Way.
  • King’s Cross & St Pancras main line station is about a 20-minute walk; head south on Euston Road, turn right into North Gower Street and right again into Stephenson Way

Car Parking

The RCOphth does not have dedicated car park spaces, however, there are two disabled spaces directly opposite our main entrance on Stephenson Way. Please note these are for blue badge holders only. Please see Camden Council’s website for more details or look at the Transport for London website for alternative methods.

Main Entrance

The main entrance on Stephenson Way is at street level and therefore fully accessible for any visitors with disabilities. There is a call button on the left hand side of the entrance which visitors can press to alert the receptionist who will open the sliding door. The reception desk is just inside the main entrance, on the left-hand side, where visitors can request any assistance from reception.

Internal Access

From reception, visitors can access the passenger lift to all six floors of the building. All floors have step-free access, although they do not have fully motorized doors, so visitors may require some assistance. There are disabled-access toilets on both the ground and fourth floors. The fourth floor toilet is accessible via the Council Room so visitors who are attending meetings there do not need to leave the floor. We would be pleased to assign a member of staff to escort visitors around the building.

Assistance Dogs

Assistance Dogs are welcome at the RCOphth and a water bowl is available.
