Management and Leadership in Ophthalmology
Start time: 4th June 2021 09:00
City: Via Zoom
Description: Ophthalmology services are under increasing pressure and it is more important than ever for all ophthalmologists, clinical and non-clinical managers leading, or involved in developing and delivering, services to strengthen their non clinical leadership and management skills. The global Covid pandemic makes this even more urgent but, at the same time, has created new opportunities. This is the second College Management and Leadership Seminar, suitable for a wide range of clinical and non clinical staff involved in or overseeing ophthalmology services, and also of interest to commissioners and service improvement staff. The topics are wide ranging and will be set in the context of current national developments and demands in ophthalmology provision and the wider aspects of recovery from Covid. Some of the most important day to day areas, such as job planning, dealing with failing colleagues, basics of budgets and business cases, HR issues, all set within the framework of ophthalmology, will be covered. We will also look at integration of regional and community pathways and how this fits with changes in the commissioning landscape. In addition we look at some fascinating higher level areas, including culture change, local and national transformation agendas and the move towards greater co-ordination and collaboration between professionals and different healthcare organisations. It should prove to be a valuable, practical and stimulating day and a chance to network with key multidisciplinary colleagues and leaders throughout the UK. Please note this event will be online via Zoom.
