Practical neuro-ophthalmology in children and adolescents

Description: This seminar is aimed at consultant ophthalmologists, ophthalmic trainees & orthoptists and aims to address the most common paediatric and adolescent neuro-ophthalmic disorders encountered in clinical practice. There will be contributions from paediatric ophthalmologists, neurologists and oncologists. Topics to be covered: • The assessment of suspicious optic disc referrals from primary care and how services can be reconfigured to manage these referrals. • The assessment and management of idiopathic intracranial hypertension from both the ophthalmic and neurological point of view. • The Headsmart programme to promote the earlier diagnosis of brain tumours. • How the ophthalmologist can contribute to the management of paediatric and adolescent brain tumours. • The assessment and management of the acute onset squint. • Acquired optic neuropathies in children and adolescents.
