Eye Care Restoration and Transformation – Understanding the NHS England & Improvement Eye Care Road Map to Recovery
26 October 18.00 – 19.15
There are long standing serious capacity issues in hospital ophthalmology services causing safety concerns through delays to follow up care. These have been significantly worsened due to the cessation of most routine eye care during lockdown and the ongoing reduction in capacity due to additional infection control procedures in the COVID recovery phases. The NHS England and Improvement National Outpatient Transformation Programme (NOTP) has established the Eye Care Restoration and Transformation project bringing stakeholders together to collaborate on a programme of work to restore, and set the future direction of, eye care services. The project has released a Roadmap to Eye Care Recovery to regional systems and commissioners with guidance on what actions should be undertaken now to restore and maintain eye services safely through integrated eye care pathways with community and primary care, and the use of risk stratification, remote consultations and virtual clinics.
In this webinar you can find out more about the Eye Care Restoration and Transformation Project, the contents and recommendations of the road map, and the plans for the programme moving into more radical transformation of ophthalmic services for the future.
