Learning Outcome	Measure the intraocular pressure (IOP) accurately using a variety of applanation techniques and understand the limits of each. Correctly check the calibration of the tonometer.
Assessment	CRS8 Part 2 FRCOphth
Assessor	Consultant ophthalmologist, Senior OST (Year 4, 5, 6, 7), appropriately trained Allied Health Professional (nurse, orthoptist, optometrist)

Overview	Understand what can make the measurement of IOP less accurate and how to ensure the most accurate result possible. Understand what damage applanation could cause to patients and when you should be wary of performing applanation tonometry. Know which methods are appropriate for tonometry in children or when Goldmann is difficult due to distorted mires, epithelial loss, etc.
