To assess a patient clinically, in OPD and elsewhere, in particular to:

Learning Outcome	Know the relevant investigations. Know how and when (urgent vs routine) to request them. Know how to prepare and transport a sample or biopsy. Interpret, explain and act upon the results.

Overview	Explain the benefits, risks and potential discomfort to the patient/carer Know the limitations and cost implication of each investigation. Understand how the histopathologist assists in diagnosis and ensure you communicate with them, including seeking advice about transport medium etc. Know the macroscopic and microscopic features of ocular conditions and staining techniques used. Ensure you attend clinico-pathological conferences.
