To assess a patient clinically, in OPD and elsewhere, in particular to:

TITLE	RETINOSCOPY AND SUBJECTIVE REFRACTION

Learning Outcome	Assess a patient’s refractive error. Assess a patient’s spectacle lenses using neutralisation techniques and focimetry. Perform retinoscopy and an accurate subjective refraction, and provide an appropriate prescription. Assess a patient’s binocular co-operation and advise on whether this should be corrected optically. Perform an accurate cycloplegic refraction (especially on a child) and provide an appropriate prescription.
