Innovations in neuro-ophthalmology

NICE has undertaken a review of the following interventional procedure:

IPG299 (Tenotomy of horizontal eye muscles for nystagmus with reattachment at their original insertions)

It concludes that there is not yet sufficient evidence for the adoption of this procedure into routine practice, but makes recommendations about the processes that should be followed by units which plan to undertake this procedure, including a requirement for audit of outcomes and specific requirements for patient consent.
