How we support ophthalmic training

We play a central role in training ophthalmologists and supporting high standards in patient care. Our work includes:

  • developing and reviewing the OST Curriculum
  • delivering examinations
  • supporting safe and effective surgical training
  • providing advice on training matters
  • providing an ePortfolio to record training progression
  • offering awards and scholarships.

Simulation

Simulation is an important part of ophthalmic training to build surgical and clinical skills in a safe environment before working in live clinical settings. Surgical simulators, including EyeSi, help to practise key steps, build confidence and improve technique through regular repetition.
