OPT portfolio and assessments

The Ophthalmic Practitioner Training (OPT) Portfolio is the training record for learners on the programme. It shows their progress and provides evidence that they have achieved the required competencies.

Learners follow an annual cycle of training, but can take up to five years to complete an individual certificate. 

During that time, learners collect evidence in the Combined Portfolio OPT.

This includes: 

  • workplace-based assessments (WBAs)  
  • supervisor reports  
  • feedback  
  • reflection  
  • project work
