OST curriculum handbook

The handbook must be read in conjunction with the OST curriculum and its accompanying syllabi.

The curriculum describes the scope of practice, divided into domains of professional skills and knowledge, as well as the level of performance expected at critical advancement points.

The syllabi contain detailed descriptors for all the activities that will be assessed during the four levels of training.

OST curriculum guidance

  • Concise curriculum guide: a set of slides outlining key features of the four-level structure and the assessment tools, which could be used as a local training tool.
  • Simple guide to the curriculum: checklists and handy tips for resident doctors and their supervisors.
  • End-of-rotation checklist: contains supplementary information for resident doctors and their supervisors.
  • Matrix of progression: should be used by ARCP panels as a curriculum requirements checklist.
  • Level 4 guidance: lists key principles to follow when offering Level 4 SIA posts. The Level 4 application form template supplements this guidance.
