Event: Portfolio Pathway Training Day
This is a one-day workshop for those intending to apply in either curriculum 2024 or curriculum 2010 or anyone with an open, in-progress Portfolio Pathway application with the General Medical Council. Items covered during the day will include the differences between the 2010 and 2024 curriculums and demonstrations of ways to approach an application. This course, Supervision in Practice, will help senior trainees develop skills to make their conversations more valuable for learning, and is good preparation for the move into supervision in a consultant role. Skills course: Introduction to ophthalmic surgery (various dates)
Designed to serve as an introduction to ophthalmic surgery, this course offers trainees the opportunity to learn some of the core skills that form the building blocks of ophthalmic surgery. The focus will be on hands-on practical experience with only short introductions to each topic and at least five hours of simulated surgery using the latest model eyes. The course is open to foundation doctors, medical students, overseas doctors, in fact anyone who is considering a career in ophthalmology.
