Inherited retinal diseases- bench, bedside and beyond
Start: 2nd December 2020
Description: Inherited Retinal Diseases are the second commonest cause of childhood blindness, and the commonest cause in working age adults (UK). They are clinically and genetically highly heterogeneous. There have been major developments in terms of underlying molecular genetics, genetic testing, disease mechanisms, retinal imaging, models of disease, avenues of intervention and assistive technology, and Phase I/II and III clinical trials. Most recently with the first FDA and EMA approved gene therapy for LCA-RPE65 - which has recently been NICE approved and successfully delivered to both adults and children in the UK. This seminar will cover the breadth of these developments with experts in the respective areas providing a distilled update.
