Thames Valley Ophthalmology trainee, Edward Botcherby, has been selected by the trustees as the recipient of the Keeler Scholarship 2025. The biennial scholarship provides £30,000 to support College fellows, members or affiliates in undertaking study, research or training that will benefit ophthalmology in the UK.
Ed will be undertaking a research project to validate a novel virtual reality system for measuring ocular deviation in patients with strabismus. If successful, the technology could improve access to orthoptic assessment in resource-poor regions and support future telemedicine applications.
Commenting on the award, Ed said:
I am truly honoured to receive the Keeler Scholarship Award. This support gives me the time to fully commit to a research project that inspires me, and I’m genuinely thankful for the opportunity.
We wish Ed every success with his research and future career.
Our thanks to Keeler for the financial support which makes the Keeler Scholarship possible.
