Visiting us and Accessibility
The RCOphth does not have dedicated car park spaces, however there are two disabled spaces directly opposite our main entrance on Stephenson Way. Please note these are for blue badge holders only. Please see Camden Council’s website for more details or look at the Transport for London website for alternative methods.
The RCOphth is at 18 Stephenson Way, London NW1 2HD, a cobbled road with a narrow pavement. From time to time it will be affected by HS2 works and visitors with limited mobility are advised to contact reception for the latest information.
The main entrance on Stephenson Way is at street level and therefore fully accessible for any visitors who are wheelchair users or disabled. There is a call button on the left hand side of the entrance which visitors can press to alert the receptionist who will open the sliding door. The reception desk is just inside the main entrance, on the left-hand side, where visitors can request any assistance from reception.
From reception, visitors can access the passenger lift to all six floors of the building. All floors have step free access though do not have full motorized doors so visitors may require some assistance. There are disabled-access toilets on both the ground and 4th floor. The 4th floor toilet is accessible via the Council Room so visitors who are attending meetings there do not need to leave the floor. We would be pleased to assign a member of staff if visitors would like to be escorted around the building.
Assistance Dogs are welcome at the RCOphth and a water bowl is available.
Our Lecture Theatre has an induction loop for visitors to use during seminars or courses held at the College.
If you have any accessibility questions, either before or during your visit, you can contact Paul Heading, Facilities Manager on 020 3770 5346 or ask at the reception desk.
