The Royal College of Ophthalmologists’ Examinations department is pleased to announce the 2022 winner of the Dr Sadhu Ram Gupta MBE Award for International (non-UK) Examination Candidates.
Dr Yasser Al-Rubiay of Baghdad, Iraq, is the 2022 winner, having received the highest score in the November 2022 Part 2 FRCOphth Oral examination in Cairo, Egypt.
This annual award is intended for international candidates who take our FRCOphth exams. The Dr Sadhu Ram Gupta MBE Award is given to the best performing non-UK examination candidate who has completed the Part 2 FRCOphth Oral examination in the previous calendar year.
Only candidates who reside permanently outside of the United Kingdom and take the exam there are eligible for the award.
The award includes a monetary prize of £1000 (one thousand pounds sterling) as well as a medal.
The winner is announced in January of each year for the previous years’ worth of eligible exams, and Dr Al-Rubiay was the highest-ranking candidate from all overseas sittings of Part 2 FRCOphth Oral examinations in 2022, which were held in Singapore, India, Egypt, and Trinidad and Tobago.
