The College is delighted to announce that, INSPIRE, the new lifelong learning platform is now live. This an exciting project for the College, which provides a new vision for lifelong learning and development for all eye care professionals in a dynamic educational environment. With 26 Programmes across the areas of Clinical Knowledge, Professional Development and Personal Development, INSPIRE truly has something for everyone.

INSPIRE has been created to stimulate and support the development of ophthalmologists and colleagues in eye care, providing easy access to engaging high-quality multimedia materials. The materials cover the whole clinical spectrum, from fundamental eye care for medical students or ophthalmic practitioners to new breakthroughs and techniques for specialists in their field.  It also provides personal development tailored to each career step, and professional development focused on providing support across all professional roles.

Editors and Contributors have teamed up to create the learning materials in the three key areas of clinical knowledge, personal and professional development and to ensure the highest quality is maintained across all resources. The teams have also been supported by Instructors who help to review submitted materials and support the creation of learning materials on the platform.

As well as learners, INSPIRE has many benefits for both educators and trainers. The resources provide easily available preparatory work that can be set before live sessions, and sessions can be recorded for subsequent upload to the platform. International ophthalmic professionals will also be able to access the learning opportunities available, eg joining live events, and contributing materials to the platform.

Miss Melanie Corbett, Tele-Learning Lead, commented:

Launching INSPIRE is the culmination of a long-term vision for promoting and supporting education and  development for all ophthalmologists and eyecare professionals. The College hopes that the platform will become the resource of choice for all eye care professionals, with a suite of high-quality materials that provides enhanced learning opportunities across all career stages, and that it will continue to expand for years to come
