The process for the election of the next President of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists has commenced. The call for nominations will open on 19 August, and an email will be sent to all eligible candidates.

Civica Elections Services (CES) will set up a dedicated website. The President’s Job Description will also be available on the website so that you can see the responsibilities and commitments involved in this role.

New this year will be the hustings on 7 October, for candidates to answer some of the questions that members have posed. Thank you to all members who responded with questions. The recording of the hustings will be posted on the website.

Fellows, Members, diplomats and Affiliates who are in good standing will be able to vote. Don’t forget that it is important that we have a current and valid email address for you, as it is the most efficient way for members to be contacted by Civica about nominees and voting online will be through the CES website. If we do not have a valid email for you, information will be sent in the post, but you can still vote online.

If you wish to notify the College of changes to your email, please contact [email protected] or update your profile in the members’ area at https://ihub.rcophth.ac.uk//.

The timetable for the election is as follows.
• 30 September – Closing date for nominations
• 4 November – Voting opens
• 28 November – Voting closes
• 1 December – Newly elected President to be announced on the website
All members will be kept in regular touch about the election for this important leadership role of the College, and we encourage all eligible members to participate fully in the election process.
