This consultation seeks views on the proposed Age Related Macular degeneration (AMD) Services: Commissioning Guidance. The guidance follows the RCOphth guidance development process and is based on best available evidence obtained from systematic review of the literature.
The Eye journal has produced an animated video to accompany the Jan 2021 special issue on ‘Imaging’. It includes a comprehensive collection of updates on ocular imaging that are applicable to all fields in Ophthalmology.
Our updated guidance provides an overview of the current state of available ophthalmic imaging technologies and their clinical applications. It also provides recommendations regarding minimum ophthalmic imaging requirements for hospital eye services.
This new ‘Vision Atlas’ represents the first Public Health England (PHE) output solely focused on eye health. Ophthalmology is the largest outpatient specialty in England. The atlas shows there were 9 million outpatient attendances for vision in 2019/20.
The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) and The College of Optometrists are issuing interim recommendations on routine cataract care to help rapidly increase hospital capacity to see patients with urgent, complex or sight threatening disease.
