RCOphth elects a new President!

The Royal College of Ophthalmologists is pleased to announce that Professor Ben Burton has been elected as the next President. Professor Bernard Chang will officially hand over the office of President at the AGM during Congress in May 2023.

Ben is a full-time NHS consultant ophthalmologist at James Paget University Hospital in Great Yarmouth. He has an interest in medical retina, uveitis and neuro-ophthalmology and underwent subspecialty training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, St Thomas’ Hospital, and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London.

He is actively involved in research studies for Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy and Retinal Vein Occlusions and runs the Macular Degeneration service at the James Paget University Hospital.

The RCOphth Council, Trustees and staff extend their congratulations to Ben and look forward to working with him over the three years of his term of office.
