CPD Approval of Events

The RCOphth’s CPD programme has evolved to focus on reflection and ophthalmologists are now encouraged to record their learning and development through self-certification as it is about learning progress rather than counting points.

The RCOphth’s CPD programme has evolved to focus on reflection and ophthalmologists are now encouraged to record their learning and development through self-certification as it is about learning progress rather than counting points.

The RCOphth continues to offer approval of CPD points where the academic quality of events run by commercial organisations is demonstrated by valid aims and objectives.  That attracts a £300 plus VAT fee, whereas our approval service for non-commercial organisations (e.g. hospitals, specialist societies) is suspended until further notice.

If you wish to apply for CPD points for an event please read the Guidance for CPD Approval and complete the CPD Application Form for approval. A programme for the CPD event must be submitted with the approval form to [email protected].

Approved events may run multiple times over a 12-month period without further applications providing that the content, speakers and hours of educational content remain the same as stipulated in the original application.
