CPD Approval of Events

The RCOphth’s CPD programme has evolved to focus on reflection and ophthalmologists are now encouraged to record their learning and development through self-certification as it is about learning progress rather than counting points.

Our CPD programme has evolved over the years to focus on reflection.  Self-certification of activities and documented reflective learning is strongly encouraged as the programme ought to be more about learning progress and less about counting points.

The RCOphth continues to offer approval of CPD points where the academic quality of events run by commercial organisations is demonstrated by valid aims and objectives.  That attracts a £300 plus VAT fee, whereas our approval service for non-commercial organisations (e.g. hospitals, specialist societies) is suspended until further notice. Late applications will incur in a surcharge.

To apply for CPD points please follow the link to CPD Resources , scroll to the bottom of the page to read the ‘Guidance for CPD Approval’, download the CPD Application Form template and accompany it with the event’s programme before submission to [email protected] .

Approved events may run multiple times over a 12-month period without further applications providing that the content, speakers and hours of educational content remain the same as stipulated in the original application.
